Because we live in rural
Jesus tells us in John 14:16-17 “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” The Holy Spirit takes up residence in our lives when we accept Jesus as our Savior. He guides us in our Christian life always leading us down the path of God’s will. He speaks to us in a still small voice. It’s when I allow the static in my life to drown out His voice that I wander off the path. I never intentionally shut Him out.
We’d all probably have to admit that it’s easy to take those closest to us fore granted. Oh, we would never intentionally ignore them either, but we have an agenda that keeps us so busy, our families sometimes have to speak up to get our attention and they will, if not through verbal communication, through their actions and attitudes. It’s a good thing they do because their demanding our attention gets us back on the path of realizing they are a gift from God and deserve that special spot, not only in our hearts, but also in our lives.
I Cor.
If we want an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit, we need to cut the static and tune in. This requires taking the time to find a quiet spot, shut everything and everybody out and speak to the God within us. Once in the habit of listening for His still small voice, we’ll be aware of His constant presence. He won’t raise His voice, act up or use attitude to get our attention. It’s our responsibility to be constantly listening. It’s the only way we will remain in God’s will.
