NEW: Discipleship Manual-A New Believer's Introduction to the Christian Life

A simple, doctrinally sound, resource for the new believer, explaining the basics of the Christian faith in 10 lessons.

The AFLC Discipleship Manual was birthed from an assignment at the Association Free Lutheran Theological Seminary in the Spring of 2007.  Seminary students worked in small groups to write specific lessons relating to basic teachings of the Christian life. The resulting handbook was field tested in a various congregational settings.

Today, more than ever, we see the need for vigilance in training new believers in the Word of God. It is a blessing to add a Lutheran Discipleship Manual to our evangelism toolbox!

While a new Believer may go through manual themself, ideally a mature Christian would lead the new believer through each lesson.

Download Options:

The Discipleship manual is offered in two PDF formats, large page and booklet. For those with basic computer skills, the large format is easiest to print. The booklet format is very nice, but takes more time to print. Detailed directions for printing in booklet format are below. Because of the number of pages for the booklet, it has been divided into two documents.

Directions for Printing in Booklet Format: (If you have a one sided printer)

  1. Click on the link opening the Discipleship Manual in PDF format.
  2. Click on the printer icon in the top left corner. This opens your print options.
  3. Under "Print Range" select ALL,
  4. For “Subset” select “Odd Pages Only.”
  5. Make sure the box "reverse pages" is NOT checked.
  6. Hit “Ok” on the lower right of the Print screen. Your Discipleship manual, front side, will print.
  7. Do not reverse the paper as it prints, keep it stacked in the same order it printed.
  8. Next, you will need to print the backside of the booklet pages. Go back to the print options screen.
  9. Under "Print Range" select ALL,
  10. For “Subset” select “Even Pages Only.”
  11. This time, make sure the box "reverse pages" IS checked.
  12. Insert your paper back into the print tray. Each printer is a little different in how you position paper to print on the backside; I recommend doing one test page on a scrap of paper so you see the position the paper will print.
  13. Once you have the paper positioning correct, print all pages, and you have a completed booklet, ready to staple and fold.
  14. If you have a two sided printer, you can skip 3-11 above, and simply select two-sided printing, with left binding, and the copier should layout everything for you.
