Pastor Jeff and Jane Swanson

Pastor Jeff and Jane Swanson have served in Naknek, AK, since September 2007. The Swanson’s have six children, one in Iray, three in the lower 48 and the two youngest, Hope and Abigail, with them in Naknek.

Pastor Jeff and Jane Swanson both grew up in North Central Kansas.  Pastor Swanson earned his B.A. degree from Bethany College and graduated from the Association of Free Lutheran Seminary in 1986.  He served congregations in Kalispell, MT, and Newark, IL.  In 2007, Pastor Swanson accepted a call to serve the two congregations at Naknek, Alaska, located about 300 miles SW of Anchorage.

Previous to accepting the full time call to Naknek, Pastor Swanson had visited as part of a work crew and interim pastor.

Pastor Swanson and his family have endeared themselves to the community through their humble service. Please keep them in your prayers.

Pastor Brian Davidson

KAKN Radio Station Manager

Brian Davidson was born and raised in a nominal Lutheran home in NE South Dakota. During a week at Pickerel Lake Bible Camp he heard the Gospel presented and came under the conviction of his sin. It was later, after joining the Navy and participating in a Bible study, that he came to understand the depth of God’s love and forgiveness and surrendered his life to Christ.

Graduating from AFLTS in 1984, he accepted a call as assistant pastor of Amery Free Lutheran Church and principal of Mustard Seed Faith Academy in Amery, WI where he served for five years. He then took on a special ministry through interim pastoral care to congregations in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Texas, and Alaska. Pastor Davidson also served eight years as information systems manager at AFLC Schools and Headquarters.

In 2008, Pastor Davidson accepted the call to serve an interim assignment as manager of KAKN radio in Naknek, AK, where his prior navy radio training, pastoral care, and business skills, are being used to spread the Gospel.

Jeremy and Lacey Crowell

 (serving seminary internship)

Aviation Ministries

Jeremy and Lacey Crowell joined the Alaska outreach team in June 2009 for six months of seminary internship. Jeremy is a flight instructor and aircraft mechanic. He also holds seaplane, instrument, and multi-engine ratings.

Association Free Lutheran Seminary internships are designed to give fourth year seminarians hands-on ministry experience while mentoring under a seasoned pastor. Not only will the Crowell’s gain valuable training working with Pastor Jeff Swanson, but they bring with them skills and a servant-heart that have great potential to expand the Alaska outreach.

Jeremy and Lacey provide valuable avaition service for the AK ministry. There are no roads into Naknek. Ministry into surrounding villages is only possible by plane. The Crowell's are also providing serving with Pastor Brian Davidson at the KAKN radio studio.

Please pray God would direct the Crowell's in their future ministry, and that the Lord would provide for all their needs.
