Student Missions 2008Theme Verse:
Romans 10:14-15 "How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
Mission Statement:
For God's glory through His kingdom through His growing youth.
Why Go:
A Great Commission – Jesus has called all believers to be investing in the global effort to make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). Student Missions provides an opportunity to come alongside established missionaries to see what the Lord is doing and join in with their gifts serving Him.
A Great Collision – Student Missions offers a collision of worlds for teenagers. Short-term mission trips bring experiences that crash into a student's world. Student will have an opportunity through work projects and relational ministry contacts to enter an unfamiliar world. This way, teens receive a glimpse into how small the world is and how big our Savior is!
A Great Change – AFLC Youth Ministries pursues winning, building, equipping, and multiplying student disciples of Jesus. Missions are a wonderful resource to give a setting for transformation through God's Word. The exposure encountered is life changing. Qualities of teamwork, servant hood, and a missional-mindset are developed. Loving the Lord and loving people, each teen is stretched in his faith.
Fields:
Brazil: Teams will be working with missionaries Pastor Paul and Becky Abel. The Abel's have been working in Brazil since 1985; they have established 3 churches in Curitiba and the Brazil ARCA retreat center. This trip will take place July 23, 2008 through August 14, 2008.
Inner-city Minneapolis Outreach: Teams will partner with Inner-city ministries in Minneapolis, MN. This trip will take place July 10-14, 2008.
We highly recommend and encourage one adult leader per five students that attend all mission trips. Thank you.
Prayer: Please be in prayer that God's will would be done in these exciting outreaches!
