Goodness Seen

Exodus 20:1-17  The law’s function in relation to Israel was on of disciplinary restriction and correction, to hold Israel in check fortheir own good.

Deuteronomy 6:24 The Lord commands us to keep His statutes so that He might prosper us and that we might be kept alive.
Was this good on God’s part? Yes, this was goodness on God’s part.  God’s goodness always promotes truth and righteousness.   He often has to use severe measurers to set sinful men on the way to righteousness, but all that He does is good.

Psalm 27:1  God’s goodness is seen in the land of the living.

 

GOODNESS SHOWN

God’s goodness is never limited and is shown in many ways.

Exodus 16:4a, 31, 35  God supplied bread from heaven called manna, not a tasteless substance but verse 31 says the taste of it was like wafers made with honey  The manna fell throughout the forty years of wilderness wanderings and ceased to fall when Israel began eating grain at Gilgal.

Exodus 16: 12-13 God supplied meat for them to eat by bringing quails in the evening.

Exodus 17:1-6,  Exodus 15:22-27 God supplied water for them to drink even wen they repeatedly murmured against Him.

Deuteronomy 8:4  Only God in His goodness could accomplish this.  Their clothes did not wear out nor did their feet swell during these forty years.

Exodus 13:21-22  He does not leave them without guidance in the wilderness but provides a pillar of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night

Exodus 14:10-31 God delivers Israel from the advancing Egyptians by making a way through the Red Sea so that they could cross on dry land and then allowing the waters to overcome the Egyptians.

 

Goodness Given

1 Kings 19:1-8  God ministers to Elijah’s needs by sending an angel to provide food for him when he was discouraged and wanted to die.  This food did not satisfy him for just one day but he went in the strength of it for forty days and forty nights.

 

Goodness Ministered

Luke 2:1-14  The birth of a Savior.

John 19:28-30  All things were accomplished.  The Saior’s death upon a cruel cross.

Luke 24:1-7  He is not here, but is risen! Christ’s resurrection.

Acts 1:8, Acts 2:1-12  The promise and coming of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit.

 

Goodness to Whom

  1. 2 Chronicles 30:18, Psalm 86:5 The sinner.
  2. Psalm 31:19, Lamentations 3:25 The believer.
  3. Psalm 68:10 The poor.
  4. Psalm 119:68 To those who would do good.
  5. Acts 14:17 Those who have temporal needs.
