I have so appreciated the knowledge of Karen Floan on matters within our AFLC, from constitutional legal matters down to the many names of people she knows within our AFLC family. She has been a wealth of knowledge to me as the newbie on the board. Karen started getting us into the digital age by developing our email newsletter (WMF E-News). She has used her gifts of organization and that electronic communication to further the Lord’s work through the WMF. She will be missed but I know she’ll remain active, and I have her phone number if I need! – Karen Pederson, National WMF President
by Karen Floan, National WMF Recording Secretary
What have you been doing the last six years?
I posed this question to myself as I considered my six years serving the National WMF Board. Having been elected in June of 2019 I will have completed two 3 year terms in 2025.
Over the past six years I retired from the workforce; helped my husband through cancer treatments; saw my oldest grandchild graduate from high school and enter FLBC; rejoiced seeing my youngest daughter get married; experienced the loss of some dear friends and relatives, but felt joy with the birth of three more grandchildren; and served as Recording Secretary for the National WMF.

Maybe you’ve been asked to serve the Lord in your church, or other ministry? Maybe even for the national WMF as I was asked to do in 2019. Maybe you have thoughts like I did, that your life is too busy or you are too old, or have other responsibilities that are tugging at you? Well let me encourage you from experience, that it’s a joy to work with others such as the National WMF board who have hearts desiring to serve Christ.
The monthly zoom meetings accommodated busy board members schedules and because of diligent board members working together many tasks were accomplished. Tasks such as plans for WMF day, decisions for Bible study authors, acknowledging thanks for gifts given to the NWMF which allow the board to allocate support for AFLC missions and WMF project needs. It is a blessing to see the Lord provide and work in hearts.
Over this time I’ve been reminded that I need to be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. Even as I grow older, and life brings changes we must continue to serve the Lord, for He is the one who will help us and lead us.
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the
Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 15:58 NASB1995
If I had not said yes to serving as Recording Secretary for the NWMF I would not have been blessed to get to know some wonderful women of the AFLC, and see the Lord working and leading these past six years.
