Let me introduce myself. I am Joanne Herset, child of God, follower of Jesus. Kalispell, Montana, in the Flathead Valley surrounded by the beauty of God’s handiwork is where I call home. Family and friends call me “Jo”, My six grandchildren call me “Grammie”. I was the wife of Allen (who went home to be with Jesus in 2017) and mom to three sons, who married wonderful women that are my treasured “daughters-in- love”.
After working eight years in banking, and prior to that 25 years at a fabric and craft store (whose name was similar to mine), I have retired. What do I do to fill my days? Everything that brings me joy: quilting, watching grandkids, playing piano, participating in my church’s quilt ministry, reading (besides my Bible, historical fiction and biography are my favorite genres), knitting and quilting. Did I say I love to quilt! (I am diligently working to diminish the stash accumulated while working in a fabric store.) Faith Free Lutheran is my church home, where I have been involved with children’s ministry, music and I now facilitate a “Single Ladies of a Certain Age” small group.
God has given me a blessed life. It hasn’t been without challenges or trials, but He has walked with me every day of my life. One of my favorite Scriptures passages that speaks to God’s hand in my life is found in Lamentations 3, verses 22 & 23: “The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
